Moonbirds NFT collection creator Kevin Rose has confirmed the cancellation of the “PROOF of Conference” event scheduled for May over low interest from participants.
PROOF of Conference is the flagship event organized by Moonbird for holders of the PROOF NFT collection. The NFT event was scheduled to be held between May 11 and May 13 in Los Angeles.
However, due to recent market downturns and declining interest in NFT events, the team has decided to cancel the PROOF of Conference.
PROOF NFT creator Kevin Rose explained that in the world of NFTs, timing is everything. However, given current realities, the team has concluded that right now isn’t the right time for the conference.
Rose said in an open letter to the ticket buyers on Feb. 20:
“…after several weeks of sales data, conversations with sponsors, and feedback from our community members, we have been forced to recognize that now is not the right time to achieve that vision,”
Rose added that the team has issued a full refund (including ticket fees, hotel bookings, and transaction fees) to the participants’ purchasing wallets.
Going forward, Rose said the team will be focused on delivering improved products and arts for the Moonbirds and PROOF collective communities.
Out of a total of 1000 minted PROOF NFTs, about 928 have been sold at a floor price of 14.65 ETH. As of press time, the collection has raised about 25,675 ETH in trading volume, according to OpenSea data.
